The Community Newspapers recently announced their Reader’s Choice Awards winners for 2010 and several of our stores were recognized.
These awards come from readers of the newspaper without any solicitation of votes by the retailers, so they are based on the customer’s opinions of the stores.

Columbia, MO owners Amy Modrell Miller and her mother Dianne Modrell participated in a Kid’s Day Festival put on by PBS.
Amy reported that at the Festival, on Saturday afternoon, June 19, they had educational items from Melissa & Doug for the kids to play with, gave out temporary tatoos. and anyone that signed up for the Children’s Orchard M.O.M.S. Club received a $5 coupon for the store.

Congratulations to our newest owners: Carol Polsky-Mintz, Carrie Rosenblum and Cindy Kehagiaras. Carol and her daughters took over the Manhattan Beach, CA store in early March. For the first 16 weeks they have owned the store sales have exceed the prior year every week, including 4 weeks in which sales more than doubled!

The Children’s Orchard in Lee’s Summit, MO had a tent sale last Saturday, and it was successful despite a monsoon wind/rain storm that started at 1:00 pm. (They had to frantically move the tent sale inside where it became a ‘tote sale.’)
