Children’s Orchard Ann Arbor is holding a food drive for Food Gatherers for the month of October. We are collecting non-perishable foods, personal care items, and cash.
Food Gatherers gleans surplus food from more than 300 sources and provides enough food for more than 8,000 meals a day for the local community.
To encourage donations we are offering customers a chance to win prizes if they donate two or more containers of food or personal care items, or make a cash donation. We will give away a Toysmith L’il Grocery Cart and a Toysmith Shop ‘n Go Play Food Set. There is also a grand prize of a $50 Children’s Orchard gift card for the single largest donation in pounds.
Our goal is to collect at least 500 pounds of food and $500 in cash between Oct. 1-31. We will be tracking the progress on a large poster near the back of the store where customers will also place a carrot with their family’s name on it when they make a donation. We want the event to be fun as well as a way to help families in the Ann Arbor community.
